Five things worth sharing from the last week or so, brought to you by a different member of the Browser Media team every Friday.

1. Google Maps ‘find parking feature’
Google Maps has unveiled a new feature that is going to make finding a parking space much easier, with a new ‘find parking’ button coming to the Android app this week. The feature provides a list of the parking spaces near your intended destination. Once you select your preferred parking choice, the app will add the car park to the end of your journey and then include walking directions from the car park to your destination.
This feature has only been rolled out on Android in 25 U.S. cities for the time being, however, the new update has also expanded the apps ‘parking difficulty’ feature making it more widely available. When available, this feature ranks parking availability at your destination based on historic parking data.
2. 711,477,622 people found in a new spam list
The importance of online security was a huge topic this week as a French security researcher, known as Benkow, discovered a huge spambot had accessed the details of over 711 million email accounts. Benkow discovered a massive open and accessible web server that was storing dozens of text files containing batches of email addresses, passwords, and email servers used to send spam. It’s believed these details are being used to bypass spam filters by sending emails from legitimate servers. 3. #DeadlineDay
For football fans across the world, this Thursday was one of the most exciting days of the year – Transfer Deadline Day. As usual, fans experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as the storm of rumours and speculation swirled around Twitter all day and late into the night. It was good to see the day start in usual fashion with the king of deadline day back doing what he does best.

I have to admit I spent most of my evening glued to Twitter and Sky Sports to keep up to date with the latest deals. The day usually consists of football fans arguing over who got the best deals or whose new signing will have the biggest impact, but I think there is one thing we can all agree on – Thames Valley Police were the real winners.

4. Game 4 Grenfell
Keeping with the football theme this weekend sees a charity football match taking place to raise money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster. The event will see two teams of ex-professional footballers and famous faces from the world of music and entertainment come together for 90 minutes of football. With appearances from former England stars David Seaman, Jamie Redknapp, Paul Merson, Peter Crouch as well as some famous faces including Mo Farah, Olly Murs, and Jack Whitehall. The game kicks off at 3pm on Saturday at Queen’s Park Rangers’ home ground, Loftus Road, and will be aired live on Sky 1.
