1. A lot can happen in 60 seconds

Three years ago at a Techonomy conference, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt boldly stated that every two days we create as much information as we did from the civilisation of time up until 2003.

And user-generated content (I’m looking at you social media) has gatecrashed the ‘content party’ in an exceptional fashion.

2. My latest purchase

I love shopping online. Especially those electrifying few seconds before you click ‘confirm order’. And then, the wait…

This week I bought ‘Predatory Thinking: A Masterclass in Out-thinking the Competition‘, the latest book from Dave Trott.

Eight pages in and it doesn’t disappoint. If you’re interested in creativity I urge you to get clicking.

3. Who put that link there?

For brands protecting online assets is an endless task.

And with 60% of businesses having no system in place to protect intellectual property online it can be hard to even know where to start (Source: research by NetNames).

Since January this year, Google has received requests to remove more than 100m links deemed in breach of copyright laws. If that’s not staggering enough on its own, that’s more than double the requests received for the whole of 2012!

4. New favourite follow

One has been doffing one’s hat to Marketing Chap on Twitter after his recent post on brands. His rather spiffing post discusses whether it’s time for brands to stop being faceless and start showing character on social media.

Through social media brands have been blessed with the opportunity to talk directly to customers. And whilst it wouldn’t be appropriate for every brand can’t have a Tom, Dick or Harry representing the company there’s a lot to be said for showing some personality.

For a bit of chinwag, Marketing Chap is definitely worth a follow.

5. Babies. Not just for girls

It’s baby time (nearly) for Browser Media’s Matt. Nothing says ‘best dad ever’ like the world’s manliest baby stroller.
