Today, Twitter has released its list of top 2010 trends.
A staggering 25 billion tweets were sent in 2010 and this lists is a representation of what those tweets were all about.
A Twitter representative blogged;
“These Trends indicate the things that are most meaningful in our lives. Each day on Twitter, people tweet about news, sports, entertainment and cool new technology–and everything else in between. The list of 2010 Twitter Trends reflects what’s happening in our world, demonstrates the power of turning any event or story into a shared experience, and underscores Twitter’s value as a real-time information network.”

As you can see, it’s a mixed bag.
The technology list is perhaps the only one we can relate to, having tweeted and blogged about most of the topics ourselves (RockMelt, Google Instant…).
There’s also a distinct American feel to the list, which isn’t too surprising considering the US accounts for approximately 30 percent of all tweets worldwide.
With Twitter expanding it’s services and languages, it will be interesting to see what trends 2011 brings… hopefully not Bieber.
