Five things worth sharing from the last week or so, brought to you by a different member of the Browser Media team every Friday.
This week’s My Five is by Alex.
1. Living Digital
I can still remember a time without the Internet. Those were simpler times. It seems like a long time ago, but really it’s taken the blink of an eye for the internet to be ingrained in almost every single aspect of our lives. The true extent of this is easy to overlook or take for granted, as one man found when he tried an experiment to see if he could go back to living with a 56K modem for a week. Interesting? Yes. Infuriating? Definitely.
Having technology at our fingertips and ‘living online’ though gives companies many more opportunities to get in front of us. As this article states, the possibilities for marketing are endless and ‘brands need to take advantage’.
It’s also given rise to countless companies who, of course, would not exist without the internet. Some more bizarre than others.
2. Plane Awesome
Talking of brands and ways in which they can help themselves get noticed, Stevens Aviation really pulled out all the stops with their genius PR stunt. Not only did the company avoid a potentially expensive and damming legal situation, they managed to raise the profile of the company so much so that they almost quadrupled their revenue in as many years. Impressive.
It just goes to show the importance of thinking outside the box when it comes to creating campaigns for clients, and, equally if not more importantly, knowing your audience.
3. All Hail Hillvetica
Move over Kim K, this week everyone on the ‘net is freaking out about Hillary Clinton. If you weren’t convinced about the power of ‘brand’ then the brewhaha all over the ‘net this week about her campaign logo should convince you.
To accompany Hillary’s ‘H’ logo, designer Rick Wolf has designed the rest of the alphabet. Unfortunately his typeface isn’t downloadable – yet.
4. The Social Chain
These youngsters are totally bossing Twitter.
5. Maths is Hard
Doing the rounds this week is a ridiculously difficult maths problem which is totally stumping everyone. Including me.
If you can solve it, hats off to you. If not, don’t feel bad that this was designed for 14 year olds…
