1. Happy Birthday to You(Tube)
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. It is also the day when a familiar friend celebrates their 10th birthday. That’s right, YouTube turns ten on Saturday!
How else can we mark the day but officially dedicate this week’s MyFive as ‘the week of video’ and hear some words from Stevie Wonder?
2. Valentine’s Day 2015
As mentioned above, it is Valentine’s Day tomorrow. If you had forgotten, stop reading this and rush out to get that card / some flowers (not from the petrol station) / box of chocolates / <insert cliché here>.
As you may have guessed, I am a hopeless romantic. Not so much in the idealist / sentimental dreamer way, just hopeless at doing romantic things. Perhaps this also explains why I haven’t really liked any of this year’s slew of Valentine’s ad campaigns.
One ad that did catch my eye was this, from Heart Transplants UK, which I think works really well:
Simple, honest and it hits home with a powerful message. Very good work!
If you want a more traditionally cheesy ad, this made me smile as it ties in very well with the news that Alibaba is starting trials of drone deliveries in China:

3. What is the best dog breed?
Wow, that is opening a can of worms! Obviously, the office dog Ruby would say that it’s the mighty Hungarian Vizsla. I would agree with her, but she is mine and I accept that I am biased.
I found this video this week which made me laugh and obviously proves my theory that Vizslas are the best dog out there (I love the mountains / snowsports):
As a side note, this video also shows that the iphone6 video is really very good, especially the slow mo!
4. Spot the (robo) dog
If real dogs aren’t your thing, then perhaps you might like the latest robotic dog from Google’s Boston Dynamics?

Pretty impressive stuff and amazing movement / balance. I still don’t think they would be as cuddly on a sofa, but I reckon they would be prettty effective guard dogs?
5. The best drone video ever?
And finally…. This week, I came across what has to be one of my all time favourite drone videos (sorry to YouTube for using a Vimeo video at your birthday party, but it is too good not to share). Beautiful scenes, the ocean, a mesmerising view and a great soundtrack. 100% escapism:
