Five things worth sharing from the last week (or so), brought to you by a different member of the Browser Media team every Friday.
This week’s My Five is by Ashleigh.
1. Michael Jackson hologram performance
There were over 20 A-list acts performing at the Billboard Music Awards 2014, but it was the late Michael Jackson that stole the show through a computer-generated hologram performance of him dancing and singing.

2. Doctors warn Google Glass users that they can cause pain
It was reported this week that Optometrists have advised people that wish to purchase Google Glass that they should get their eyes tested first to find out how its position would affect them, and how long they can wear them for.
Google itself has warned customers that it can cause pain, due to the positioning on the user’s face, as they cause them to look up and should therefore not be warn for long periods of time.
3. Do mobiles affect children’s mental development?
The government and industry have funded a study to investigate whether or not mobiles and other wireless technologies have a negative impact on a child’s mental development.
They will be testing 2,500 11-12 year old children, from more than 160 schools in the outer London area from September, and then again in 2017 to test the differences.
They will be testing their cognitive abilities, including thinking skills, memory and attention.
4. #GiveGregTheHoliday
If you use Twitter you may have come across the story of Greg Heaslip, a security guard at the Arcadia group, who accidentally hit ‘reply all’ and sent his holiday request to all the staff at the company.
The staff at Arcadia jumped on this mishap by Greg, and began mocking him publicly via Twitter to the extent that the #GiveGregTheHoliday was soon trending above the EU Election. This then led to several companies jumping on the hashtag to offer Greg free flights and clothing etc. for his holiday.
Since then he has found fame in the Metro and is becoming quite a celebrity. You’ll be pleased to hear that #greggottheholiday. Great story!
